Mega Moltoni's - 3.6.18

My only previous visit to Blakeney Point was for the Alder Flycatcher and the weather on the walk back was so bad it almost took out a few people! Todays visit was much less taxing weather wise but still horrendous on the legs walking 3 miles each way on shingle.

Moltoni's Warbler

The walk up was shrouded in fog so nothing more than 40+ Little Terns were noted. On arrival at the block house a few birders were already present and the bird we were after had been seen briefly. After a short wait I managed to pick it out in the bushes and heard it call and so MOLTONI'S WARBLER was added to my UK list. But it took another 15 minutes until the fog cleared and the sun tried to come out before it started showing well. Despite my awful photo above it did show well for everyone before it flew off to the plantation. A Reed Warbler was also present and 300+ Common Scoter offshore were welcome year ticks.

Common Rosefinch

After what felt like an eternity we arrived back at the car park and headed to nearby Salthouse where in a front garden of one of the villages houses a 1st Summer Male Common Rosefinch was singing away. My 5th in the UK but first away from Scilly. 5 Spoonbill were seen distantly from Cley too.
