Spoonbill
Mediterranean Gull
Just 5 days after seeing 5
Spoonbill in Norfolk I was twitching another one. This time in Herts at Amwell NR. After having missed the last twitchable one at Wilstone by 20 minutes some 15 years or so ago I passed up on a trip to Surrey for
Nightjars and headed east. I arrived on the viewpoint and soon after I picked out the adult
Spoonbill in the trees on the island opposite. It showed well on and off for a while before flying off high south and in doing so became my 250th species in Hertfordshire! A ringed summer plumage
Mediterranean Gull was also present.
